Mind Mapping Software for us Creative Types

I mentioned this product in my last post on creative team planning, but thought that I'd go a step further and tell you what I think is the greatest brainstorming software on the planet: MindManager Pro from Mindjet.

As much as I want to rave about the features of this product, nothing I say can aptly describe what this Flash video highlights: (Click HERE to see a tour of Mind Manager Pro).

Amazing, isn't it?

Because I can type a lot faster than I can write with a pen and because I want to be able to quickly and easily share my notes with others, using MindManager Pro has given me the ability to capture ideas or thoughts in rapid fire succession. And unlike taking notes in an outline format, where you have to draw lines connecting ideas that are presented out of order, MindManager Pro give me the freedom to drag and drop each comment, note, title, illustration, web page, image, video clip, text - anything I want - into the order I want it instantly.

Working off of the understanding that here in western culture we look at things in a clockwise order, MindManager Pro lets me drag things around a central theme or concept in a clockwise fashion.

While this looks great to a non-linear thinker like myself, my left-brain counterparts may have a hard time following the flow of information. This is where MindManager Pro goes above and beyond! You can export your mind map with the click of a button and export it to an outline format Word document, Adobe Acrobat document, Excel Spreadsheet, Outlook Task or even a PowerPoint show! This not only lets you share all of the information from a meeting via email, website or print instantly, it lets you do so in a traditional outline format that everyone can follow and understand.

What's more, MindManager Pro even lets you assign tasks, calendar due dates and more to different people so that project management becomes even more streamlined. Truly, MindManager Pro is an outstanding software package that would be a huge benefit to churches trying to not only manage creative team planning, but any projects. From worship planning, to special event management to work flow efficiency control, MindManager Pro is simply an outstanding product that should be downloaded and tried by churches of all sizes.

Note: I know the images are a bit hard to read, but in order to make it relatively quick for those on dial up to load my Blog, I've kept the image sizes small. You can easily see these same images on the Mindjet.com website.

I attend and volunteer at Gateway Church in Southlake, TX and love it!

If I'm not at Gateway during a weekend, it's probably because I'm consulting with other churches across North America. I love what I do!

My consulting with churches is usually (but not always) based either on weekend trips, training staff & volunteers or on projects for technology design or upgrades. Most importantly, I love to equip, challenge and encourage the leaders and volunteers of the churches I'm privileged to work with.

It's not about the tech; it's about the people.
